Just found this live footage of Gov't Mule....Warren Haynes' tone from his Firebird is thicker than a Scooby sandwich. Delicious stuff.

I'd never realised just how good he was. I'd seem footage of him at the Crossroads festival where he was guesting and he didn't really stand out that much... but this stuff is on another level altogether!

Saw him/them in Manchester last year (oops, last last year - 2012) - they sounded epic. I loved the LP tone until he got his Firebird out which made the LP sound like a banjo.

Really good live sound and a thoroughly entertaining show.

  • MASSIVE fan of Govt Mule here! Watched that clip many times...love it. Had the pleasure of seeing them a couple of years ago and was not disappointed. That tone! Also check out Warren' s solo DVD "live at the Moody Theater" for some great ES 355 tones. Yes, bit of a fanboi here, Haynes is a bit of a hero of mine.

To me, this is the ultimate Soldano SLO tone, compared to the feeling of a SLO being an 80's machine. Warren is a really tasty player with great feel.
