I've been nagged and nagged so I've finally got round to it...
New guitar day! Now, I know I have a bit of a reputation here for being a slimy bassist and all that, but I do love a nice sixer as much as the next man. A little while back I headed off into the deepest darkest recesses of HighCross in Leicester to meet up with the shadowy figure that is @Strangefan. Turns out, rather disappointingly that he's a thoroughly nice bloke, not strange at all, and has impeccable taste in guitars. Tho I'm unsure about the funny flavours he likes in his lattes!
The deal on the table? Well, my Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Studio which wasn't getting much airtime, in return for a 1967 Guild f20.
One of my guilty secrets is 60's folky stuff - like Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Ralph McTell, that sort of thing, and I've hankered for a small body 60's acoustic for quite some time.
Guild f20's are pretty rare - most people hold on to them. It's a fairly deep body so despite the diminutive size it retains some depth in the sound - it's rounded, sweet and articulate. It's fab for bashing out chords, or for some more delicate finger style, and it does that classic 60's folky sound perfectly. It's not big, bold and jangly like a big dread or a J-200, neither is it overly woody or plinky. It sound to me just how those 60's beardy folkies do on the classic recordings I love to put on the Sonos system when the missus is out of the house.
Love it. Wanted one for a long time. Ain't going anywhere fast.

iIt will sure be missed and I do have some regrets about moving it on however..........., it got to the point I wouldnt let anyone else playit (I dont play with a pick so didnt want anyone to damage it with theirs due to the thin finish) I was constantly worried in the end taking it out incase it took a fall, and due to not affording to buy a replacement and keep this it had to go .
I needed something I can throw about sound and play brillaint without that worry and the songwriter is that guitar, do I regret getting the songwriter for this , never , has it gone to a brillaint home most def, Is bridgehouse a massive weirdo with wondering hands?...100%.
oh.
I don't think I've laid eyes on one of them before, looks like it would be good for finger style blues amongst other things.
