I'm listening to Disco. Help??

I don't know what's caused this.

During my teenage years - which unhappily co-incided with the 70s Disco boom and more happily co-incided with Punk v1.0 - I carefully stayed well on the Punk side.

But I'm sat here with "Twelve Inch 70s - Boogie Wonderland" playing loud, and really quite enjoying it.  There are some great bass lines, tunes, and a certain mindless smiley feel to it all.

Twelve Inch Seventies Boogie Wonderland

There's 15mins and 53 seconds of "I Feel Love" next on the playlist ...

(Both £5.99 at Amazon - madness).

If you're into Disco Divas and a 12" brings a satisfied smile to your face, good for you.  :)  Times they are a changin'.

I didn't mind disco tunes if they had good guitar work too
This along with Chic and Sister Sledge was a fave for me in the early 1980s

Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.

Actually, that's close to where it all it started.

Good Times The Very Best Of Chic Sister Sledge

I've still got Chic's Glastonbury set from 2013 on the Humax box.  That needs another playing too

So long as you don't get the urge to put on a white suit with a black shirt you'll be fine.

I tried, but it appears I've put on a little weight since the last time.

    :D

I think a lot of the disco stuff sounds better if you don't watch the soft-focus, ridiculously-themed, dry-iced, and mad-costumed videos
    ;)

Although, I think that last one sound better with ear defenders on.

  • I'm a massive fan of Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards.

    It's not a competition.

  • Like any genre there's some great stuff and some utter, utter shite.

There's also a good chance of an extended fuzz n' phase guitar wig-out if you keep listening for long enough.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

So am I. I'm not really that much of a disco fan generally - although there's quite a lot I do like, especially with a bit of nostalgia added - but that kind of musical genius transcends all genre considerations.
