Obviously it's no Permission to Land, but it's great fun and has some great bits of guitar, including some really nice Thin Lizzy-style harmonies on the wonderfully-titled Japanese Prisoner of Love.

Now I want a Les Paul :D

  • Yeah it’s pretty solid. The worlds always a better place with a new darkness LP

  • Listened to it yesterday, really enjoyed it.

Favourite track so far is Solid Gold.

  • One of my favourite bands. By far.

The bonus tracks are worth the extra cash. Uniball and Rack of Glam especially.

It is certainly not like anything else they have ever done!!

Does he still sing with that ridiculous falsetto?

I got the new album yesterday. I'm a fan but I have to say I wasn't optimistic after hearing Solid Gold (great music but mediocre lyrics) and Southern Trains (a sure fire B-side). Despite my misgivings it turns out to be fantastic. Very different from their previous albums and the "playing it live" style production really suits the material. Can't wait to see them again in December!

I love, love, love The Darkness what a frickin great band. Only heard the singles but the album is waiting for me at home, PTL is still their highwater mark for me but I loved LOOK nearly as much. Got high hopes for Pinewood Smile although wasn't so keen on Southern Trains. Dan is a riffin genius.

They were OK as a novelty band, but one song is too much for my ears.

Awww man, I mean each to their own and everything and I get his voice can be polarising but they are far from a novelty band. That is a tad unfair to be honest. They rock as hard as any other band and Dan is underrated as a guitarist and a songwriter.

A band that have almost completely passed me by over the years.

When I was about 17 the (now) fiancée dragged me to Knebworth for Robbie Williams and they were one of the support acts. They were very good IIRC.

I only really know their main big hit and 'Friday Night' from the same album. I'll have to have a listen to some more of their material.

First album Permission To Land and the 4th, Last Of Our Kind are my faves. The first 6 tracks from Permission are just immense. Plus I dare any rock fan to not rock out to the openers on LOOK!
