Amp as a pedal platform for Fractal FX8?

I recently (very) acquired a Fractal FX8. Really enjoying it so far and it sounds good through a borrowed Egnater Rebel 30 Mkii. However, the second channel seems somewhat superfluous.

Any suggestions on an amp (single channel an option) that takes pedals really well and has a good FX loop?

Close to doing for a custom Danplifier. Anything else I should consider?

I'm using a Kemper, but it's probably not what you want to hear

The FX8 is great though, and I'd like to try it with a real amp one day.
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

Something you don't like about it? I usually use Fender Twin profiles for FX, and some of the other clean profiles too. I'm quite new into the process though, and still got lots to learn

  • @Freebird It's an incredible piece of kit. But...something is missing. Likely in my brain :) I'm enjoying the Egnater more than the Kemper though.

You’re going to hate this but I use the FX8 with a Boogie MkV25 and they’re a great match. 4 effects in the front, 3 in the loop and one button acts as a relay to switch channels.
A Suhr Bella would be a good shout too.

Have to mention the Blackstar Artist 30 innit!?  (the ArtisAN 30 would be fine but no FX loop although you have a cheat with the 4 input jacks. You need a bloody strong back mind!)

If you like the Egnater clean channel on your borrowed amp (the channel is a thing of beauty), why not buy one? The FX-8 works really well  with 4CM and can do channel switching too.

just so happens I'm about to  put my Egnater Rebel 30  up for sale...

@vasselmeyer I have first refusal on it. How much are you shifting yours for? Any particular reason?

    Thanks for all the suggestions!

@imalrightjack Unfortunately I've developed an unpleasant back condition which means I've had to go lightweight with a tiny DV Mark head and neodymium speakers. I'd never get rid of it otherwise. Recently serviced and completely new vales all round.

  • @Wazmeister That's a shame. Nice, simple and easy to watch video.

Any tips on getting into the FX8, manual aside (which I'm working through)? Can you download drive presets, etc.?

    Ignore all presets !

I'd start with a blank preset (best thru a Mac/PC software) and add reverb. Try North/South Church reverb.

    Add a delay. etc
