A mate went to see Wishbone Ash recently and this guy was supporting - interesting

I'm not sure if he has a MIDI pickup on there for the low strings and bass notes or maybe something like an Boss OC-3 which will allow you to do that.

Looks like he has an extra mag pickup just tucked under the bottom couple of strings.  I use an OC3 with acoustic, but it doesn't sound quite as tight as this.
(I also play a fancy foot-drum kit, but that's another story!)
