stratosonic

Anyone any experience of these. I'd like a p90 powered option and these are quite interesting. Seen one recently ta 650 - not entirely sure if that's a good price or not. Any views either on the geetar and/or price to pay?

I always regret not buying the one i tried in a san francisco guitar center a few years back when the exchange rate was really good ($2 to £) instead i chose to bring back a gibson lp to make some money but the stratosonic was a great player and sounded great

  • I've not played one but always really wanted one, especially one of the single pickup versions...

Really love mine. Sounds like a (slightly brighter) Les Paul Special with a Stratty feel. Just bare in mind the shorter scale length.

For me I love the sound of P90's but I always feel more comfortable with a Strat, I guess this is a pretty cool compromise.

This is me jamming some Zeppelin just after I bought one. -

I'd say the price was pretty much the going rate, got mine for slightly less, but only just managed as the guy almost pulled out of selling it.

Are they semi's/chambered? Remember quite fancying one a few years back.

I believe they are chambered mahogany.

Depends on the model. But the P90 SoS is a Fender USA Deluxe. It has a chambered Honduran mahogany body, rosewood board, maple neck, deluxe tuners and has a bespoke intonatable locking wraparound bridge which is brilliant. £650 is about the minimum they go for for a good one. The single only thing I'd level against it is that the 90's are a bit thin. I swapped mine for a pair of BKP-91s and it was perfect. Sold it in the end (IIRC for £700), but it was a lovely, lovely thing.

Thought so. I'd imagine I'll come across one at some point in my GAS wanderings before I shuffle off my mortal coil.

Review when you do get? Should make an interesting change to the 'norm'.
