Impedance matching advice

I have a vintage Bassman head at 4 ohms and a 1x12 creamback cab at 8 ohms. Don’t mind the mismatch at low home volume. But would like to turn it up a bit and do have a Weber mini mass attenuator to stick between the 2. What impedance setting should I be selecting on the attenuator - 4 or 8 ohms? Is is better to match it with the amp or cab? Thoughts and experience?

Always match the attenuator to the amp - it's what the amp sees as the load.

The speaker impedance is actually more or less irrelevant once the attenuator is more than a click or two down.
