started on the case.   The dovetail jig was fun but in the end i decided it was going to take more practice before i was happy with it so went with dowel reinforced rabbets instead

The 4 sides are all cut ready to be drilled for some contrasting wood dowels. Top and bottom are some olive ash (just normal ash with streaks of darker hardwood), sides are walnut that also has some sap wood.  so two wood colour tones, each with its own two colour tones.  This is how i get extra tone!

The front panel will also be olive ash.

a bit more done - starting to look like a (massively overbuilt) amp.

I have used screws in recessed holes for now... That gives me the option of drilling for dowels later or sticking with screws (or screws and glue) and capping the holes with plugs

I cut the access for the controls and added a couple of bevels, but i need to reduce the thickness of that area by about 3/8" so the amp sits further forward

I left the gap at the top as a main vent and i think i am going to route a recess into the top plate so i can install some kind of grill behind the vent... although the the back will be left quite open anyway.

I want to do something on the front but am not sure what, some kind of pattern/vent design

I may route some handles into the side - not all the way through, just a recess

made some holes, bevels and recesses.   Its amazing how different it looks after just adding a few bits of simple details

this is just rough sanded and wiped down with spirits

I should also point out that the handles on the side may double as filtertron storage recesses.   I was looking for the P-90 template but found the TV jones one first

Nice working of some nice looking pieces of wood.

Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Cool looking amp.  Are you going to stain the wood or leave it natural?

i think i will leave it natural as any stain will take away from the contrast in wood types

you may have played this amp in its previous state when it was built into a trace elliot velocette  cab i recovered in red tolex and fitted with a tayden true brit speaker.    I think i had 3 red amps at that point  including the red matamp little rock.

Its definitely better now, and more reliable than my selmer.

the big issue now is my red tolex speaker cab... this amp doesn't match at all.  The red cab doesn't match my living room - but enough solid wood to rebuild the cab in the same style would cost a bomb

decided it needed a grill... mainly to stop the kids shoving stuff inside

I remember the red cab with the Little Rock on it, at Dallow Street. I also remember that I liked the sound of the Tayden.  I don't remember if I played this one.  Blame it on old age!

@Wezv, brilliant idea fitting the Champ clone in the back of the cab.
