What are 'typical prices/costs.......

for someone who is electronics savvy enough to either :-

1) Check out the tone and vol knobs/pots and repair........or,
2) Check out the tone and vol knobs and replace.

The typical home repairist will save on labour charges but pay retail rather than trade prices for parts. There will also be outlay for some tools but this will be recouped over time.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

    Pots:  £5-£10 ea.

You don't need to be electronics savvy to work out whether they're functioning properly though?  Be unusual to have to replace all pots if one has died, unless you were wanting to upgrade quality.

If you're asking what the price would be to get the job done professionally, add an hour's labour (as long as it's not a 335 style) to the cost of the pots.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

  • Thanks all. Preliminary fumblings and knob twiddling suggest that the volume and tone pots for the neck pick up have been 'swapped' The knob that I expected to be the volume is the tone.....and vice versa. I can live with it. I think!
