Rear Grill material

Hi there, I’ve just received a head and cab from a builder and the headshell didn’t come with any rear grill mesh (when said builder was quizzed I was told I was getting ‘a tasty deal’ and his headshell didn’t come with them). So, any ideas where I can get some from that won’t cost loads? Ideally Marshallesque. Thanks!

Isn't that just expanded metal mesh? You used to be able to get that in hardware shops, they sold it by the yard (or these days by the metre).

You can get mesh from DIY places, cut it with tin snips and staple it on. Or you could screw it on with washers on the screws.

Yes, you can buy 'expanded aluminium' from B&Q, probably Wickes. They tend to stiff you for the cost but what can yer do!

Dont buy the 16 x 8 stuff listed above, you really want 10 x 5 type material to provide any protection and to look like something decent

Your cab builder was being pretty cheap to not supply it

I think that’s serious cheek from the builder!

If you don’t put mesh on the back of your amp heads, fine.  Some Mesa amps are pretty much open at the back.

But don’t try and make the buyer feel guilty. He was the one that agreed to build for you at that price, not your fault if he under quoted!!  Ridiculous!

Yeah soured the whole thing for me personally... I hate it when you are made to feel like someone is doing you a favour.

I just picked some up from B&Q... paid the convienience tax

but then it was a 2 minute job t o cut to shape and bend the top edge back over a chopping board... and i have loads left to do a back panel
