  • They're great on the right guitar, which usually means a Gretsch or a Tele. The ones without the tension bar are generally better (i.e. not a B5/B7) so they don't work for me on LPs and 335s so well.

  • on semi-acoustics they can also be a bit rattley and creaky in a way that some pickups can hear.

  • I have one on my Peavy Rockingham. It's great. I like to add a bit wobble to sustaining.chords. Fancied one on my GSG, but decided against it in the end. I nearly bought a Yamaha superstrat 25 years ago that happened to have a Floyd Rose, but I probably would have blocked up the trem.

2 out of three, they're essential.

i was only teasing, bit cheeky but not intended to be downright offensive. i was only saying that i adore your black supro but were i to happen upon a similar one i would find another place and use for the bigsby. a retro door handle on an outside loo, or for opening paint tins maybe.

Yeah I like them. Fitted one to my Tele and it now works well. I use the original bridge with metal removed from the back to give clearance for the strings to pass. One thing I learned is that you need to be sensible with saddle choice if using this method; they need to be slotted to maintain correct string spacing as the B5 spacing is narrower than standard Fender string spacing and don't use brass saddles as the strings will gradually cut into them, I now use steel slotted saddles - like these:

ME! this is one of those £25 knock off ones that I embellished with an Aum keyring.

(pic also features another of my idiosyncrasies - 2mm plectrum!)

    I love them.

My main guitar- has been for about 8 or so years. A 40th anniversary Murphy Aged R9, factory loaded with the Bigsby as the stop tail bushings.

I seem to remember reading a while ago (on Gretschpages, I think?) about your story of the orange one. Stunning thing.

Hi. Yeah I have a few gretsches so I can't remember.

Was it a thread about the Jim English gretsch style guitar in the picture I've just posted.
