Gold or nickel hardware and pickups on a tobacco burst?

What's Hot

On an explorer with a flame top - just debating which pickups and hardware to order.   I do have some spare black and zebra pickups I was going to fit but I’m toying with gold covered pickups and matching hardware - might be a bit too bling though?

Gold with ebony fingerboard and big fret position marker inlays.

Nickel with rosewood and trapezoids or dots.

Rosewood, dots and big frets but imo gold or nickel works with rosewood.   On a Les Paul I’d agree with you though.

    Nickel, always. Always. Or chrome.

Unless it's a black Les Paul Custom, and even then gold pickup covers are too much.

This. An LP custom is the only guitar that looks right with gold hardware.

  • Well a burst, flame-topped Explorer already sounds horrible, so you might as well spoilt it 100% with gold hardware :P

Nickel... is what it looks like anyway when the spray-on Gold wears off...

Gold hardware with diamond encrusted control knobs and a mink guitar strap for a more subtle look.

  • I'd go for.... Whatever you like most?!

    It's your guitar!

(You should only wear red jumpers though. I insist)

Nickel. But that's solely because I have an inbuilt hatred of gold bling.

I'm half persuaded that my minority opinion might be bad taste.

I was thinking something like these...
