Ive always wondered what was going on with the controls on these, the plastic cups i mean. Now ive seen the back it makes sense. They must be top mount. Odd move though.

Are you not considering trades anymore? I have a JS100 that is upgraded to MIJ spec in the classifieds.

The plastic cups are fastened into the top of the body with two small wood screws. Removing the "beehive" control knobs makes them much more easily accessible.

To either side of the pickup mounting surrounds, the body rapidly tapers away to a thickness of approximately 10mm. There is not enough space to rout a cavity to house the pots, switch and jack in a conventional manner.

You're right. It was the selector switch mounting thingy that was plastic.
