  • Any partiicular problem, otherwise should be same as for any other guitar. The Trussart I have was beautifully set up "out of the box".

No, this is a very 'Trussart' issue. Basically a mate of mine has bought a Truss with a huge shim that won't allow the action to be sorted.

    Remove the shim? :)

They're just the same as other guitars, or at least all the ones I've worked on have been.

Nowhere near as odd as something like a Rickenbacker.

This is the whole thing- the shim may have slightly moved the neck pocket steel?

My Trussart was looked after by sounds effects in orkskirk, he did a great job after a bumpy flights from LA.

I had a shim in mine also, I  believe the first owner played a lot of slide guitar.

I can't say if that's likely or not, but anyone basically competent at setting up a guitar should be able to tell you.

I use to sell new Trussarts until about 4 years ago - some did have a shim others didn't - If it did and it needed it it was always near the neck pick up end of the 4 bolt neck - IMO any competent repairer who can set up a Tele should be able to set up a Trussart be it needing a shim or not - can't grasp the issue otherwise

A few months ago I had an issue with a Trussart that @SteveRobinson resolved for me so maybe worth a shout if required

You are still on their website as a dealer.

Assuming the owner is relatively local to yourself @gassage have you tried J Davey? He’s the local( ish) tele guy ( as in work for Status Quo).

didn't know that - I use to deal with Trussart via a small distributor in Scotland and 3-4-5 small UK dealers could order 2/3 guitars each - This option is no longer available and Trussart want a 6-8 piece order which is not economical for a small 1 outlet retailer - I still like the product - GuitarGuitar have purchased a few but 6-8 pc order over 4/5 stores is no issue - couple that with a  weak £ v $, CITES etc what I use to sell for £2500/3000 is now £4000/4500

I can't see them selling at that sort of price anyway, so perhaps it's better you don't have any...

I had a look at their rusty metal P bass - looks nice. Real nice.

Then I saw the price and rapidly closed that browsing window....

I have sometimes known the shim slip into the 'semi acoustic' body after you start to remove the neck - as such some might not have known it was there or what it was for - as such put the neck back and wonder why the set up has changed

You then get a 'rattle' inside the body,  so you can get the shim out if you remove the control plate cover

I've also known the wood neck to be very tight to the steel body, so as to almost scratch the side of the neck butt as you take it out/put it back
