I bet it looked lovely before all the relicing!
    Red ones are better.

Does anyone know what bridge is fitted to the guitar on the cover? It looks like a Tunomatic type that fits tailpiece studs.

The magazine says it’s likely a Japanese one of unknown origin, so not much help

Let’s not start with that crap.  Relics exist.  I am happy with my attempt at one.

I assumed that comment was aimed at the one on Dream Machines' cover and not your fine effort.
Can't sing, can't dance, can handle a guitar a little.

Some people love their guitars so much that they will do anything to protect the shiny new finish - even not play them ever!

Yes, as in joking it was a relic job.

You may be right, but it wouldn’t be the first time someone has got their knickers in a twist over a relic finish

I've been following the build thread, and all I can say is it's looking fantastic.

  • Well, that's decided it for me. It's my 50th next year, and I want to treat myself to a birth year guitar, so it looks like it's going to have to be a 1968 Gold Top.

Sadly, they seem rather expensive, eg:

Is that the going rate? Or can I get a less expensive one?

    R.

Looks utterly awesome! I' amazed at what some people can do. The relicing looks totally genuine. Cool man! Any pics of the back?

I am both very happy and frustrated with the back.  The wood is just so nice with really strong ribboning figure, it hides all the ageing :(  admittedly, its a nice problem to have.

I have sunken lacquer, crazing, wear through and a few big dings - it just doesn't jump out at you because you see the wood first

    here are a few pics

a bit light compared to the top???

    It is there though

I thought it looked great before you stated to age it.  It looks fantastic now.
