Can you buy separate 9v barrel jack plugs for pedal power?

I'm building a board using the GigRig power system but I'm a couple of power connectors short. GigRig sell a pack of 6 for £10 + £5.95 p&p (https://shop.thegigrig.com/extra-distributor-isolator-cables/) but that's a lot of wonga for what I need.

So, can you buy just the jack plugs so I can solder them onto the spare lengths of power cables that I have. The cable is that used in GigRig power like this:

  • I've bought one or two in Maplins in the past.

  • I've never seen self-solder right-angled power plugs and, if they do exist, they are likely to be bulkier than the moulded variety which could be a problem.

I've bought individual power cables from Stompy on eBay (who's cheap and reliable) - it might be easier to just buy a couple of these and cut the straight end off.

They do exist, and they are bulkier than moulded ones. Last time I had to do this I cut a moulded lead one in half, and spliced it onto another cable

@steamabacus Will those cable ends go into the GigRig Isolator/Distributor?

    I've used these before:

As Roland says, they are bulkier than the moulded ones.

I've not used the GigRig system. It was my understanding they used a clamp connector onto bare wire ends.

Those cables I linked to are the standard 2.1mm barrel plug on both ends.

@steamabacus ;  Sure, they do, I mean that if I snipped the cable in half would the cable ends go in? ie. they are double wired?

  • Yes, standard dual conductor cable. I can't see there'd be a problem - just make sure you get the polarity right (probably the white striped cable is centre but use a multimeter if you've got one to check which is screen and which is centre and connect to the GigRig system according to the polarity of your pedals - centre negative is by far the most common)

@steamabacus Yep, sounds like they'll do the job. Thanks. And have some wiz. :-)
