It certainly was and gets played with love too. An awesome job mate and I’d certainly recommend your company to others looking to build their own bespoke axe.

Nice.  I've got a tele neck on the way to Scott for some nitro love and I've been thinking about a purple body to go with it though I'm finding myself drawn to the idea of a double bound body in candy purple.

I'll need lots of pictures of yours when it's completed please @ThorpyFX are you going for a rosewood board with this one Adrian?

Indeed, it’s going to be a guitar that is lightly reliced and will be able to be seen at Brum guitar show as a guitar customers can play hopefully.

doubleebound sounds very nice with either a crisp white or.... bright yellow?

It would need to be crisp white binding for me I'm definitely not keen on bright yellow.

Should the weather hold up tomorrow I’ll upload pics of ongoing work. I’ve become dramatically busy in the last week hence my absence in my own thread.

More stock arriving soon to replenish the ash tele situation.

That butterscotch Tele is looking lovely.  I was lucky enough to play a real '52 last year and it made a big impression.  Been tempted since then to build something that captures a bit of that mojo - swamp ash, nitro etc.

    Who's necks do you use?

I might have to save up and give you a call!

Hey bud, a mixture of custom necks and AllParts. With AllParts becoming increasingly more expensive I’m leaning towards custom necks tbh. You can specify profile, radius, fret wire size and headstock shape!

Fire me a pm and we can talk options and prices :)

Can you shoot me a pm bud, it would be good to have the body here before the neck is done to ensure a snug fit

Okay, first of all excuse the mess of what you’re about to see. The next portion of the thread is set in my back garden which looks awful just now. Basically, after buying the house 5 years ago we never paid much attention to the back garden... until now.

So, new workshop time. The garden is on a gradient and slopes away from the back of the house. Once the grass was cleared from this side I ordered 16 tonnes of drainage stone to build a heavy duty base for what is coming.

    https://i.imgur.com/uwMeFps.jpg

The next part was absolutely awful. This all needed levelled and a few of my friends (builders and ex builders) have since confirmed that these stones never get moved by hand on a site. Well, there I was with a spade and wheelbarrow because I couldn’t afford a mini digger. These were a nightmare to move and level. But, i got it sorted. I must admit, it’s hard to remain focused on the goal at this early stage. The excitement wore off and it was simply a horrible chore tbh.

Next step? Treated runners had to go down and get levelled.

This took about 4-5 hours to do, once the first two are sorted it’s quite straight (bad pun) forward from there.

Ive never done this type of ground work before so admittedly the prospect of doing it right was daunting. But, it looks like taking my time and using the right tools paid off as the base was delivered yesterday... and it was bang on!

And heres a quick look at what’s coming although this was about 3 weeks ago tbh

That's a big exciting project!  Looking good.

And you've got some overflow space into the smaller green shed on the right should you need it!

It’s literally happening right now, very exciting!

All materials are on standby so when the boys are away I’m straight in to get the fitting done.

That green shed is my new spray booth :)

  • You must be well chuffed with that, especially after the donkey work of laying those stones. Excellent!
