Pedaltrain 1 or 2

What's Hot

I'm having a bit of spend lately it seems. I've been looking at the Pedaltrain 1 or 2. Unfortunately I've missed out on a Pedaltrain 2 with ATA case on here recently. However, the Pedaltrain 2 version is a little too large for what I need really albeit only slightly. So I'm going to go for the Pedaltrain 1 which has a different hard case. This is my dilemma, has anyone had any issue with the PT 1 hard cases? They just look a little flimsy compared to the Pedaltrain 2's hard case. Any experience/advice about these cases before I buy?

You might be better off going slightly larger so you have room to buy new toys.  I'm awaiting delivery of a new pedalboard (due to arrive tomorrow) as I've added stuff and my current one is too small.

Having a pedalboard with space to fill is a dangerous game to play Mr Crunchman :)

    I know!

My new one will actually be slightly smaller than my old one, but because you can put the power supply and cables underneath, I should be able to use the space more efficiently.  By the way if anyone wants a Diago Showman PM me.

I'm getting the the Emma Electronics one:

    http://www.emmaelectronic.com/products/amarhyll/index.html

It's similar to a pedaltrain (probably copied it) but I prefer the dimensions.  The PT3 is 41cm deep which is more than I want.  To make use of that space you'd wind up putting pedals 3 deep on the board.  The biggest Emma one is wider than a PT3 (76cm vs 61cm), but 31cm deep instead of 41cm.

It's also a bit cheaper than the Pedaltrain.  They don't have the large one in stock at the moment though.  I think I got the last one with a discount because there was a scratch on the hard case.

Looks great. Love the humorous video. Is it cheaper after you've paid delivery etc?

Full price (no discount for scratches) with delivery for the big one was €225.  For comparison Thomann list the PT3 at €279 - I'm not sure how much the delivery is.

I did think about getting one of their hard cases and doing something wooden inside.  The ikea gorm is about 1cm too big though - there's a big thread on that.  Their hard cases are about the cheapest I could find.

  • I have a PT1 with hard case - it's plenty sturdy, no flimsiness, I can assure you of that! I used to have a PT-PRO and obviously it doesn't quite hold up to the quality of that case, but it's certainly good enough to be chucked in the back of a car or van and would probably hold up fine on a plane, too. I might be selling my PT1 soon, so watch this space! :-)

Ok I will watch out for it. I have two strymons that will sit on the top runners so is there enough depth to not crush the knobs of a timeline for example once shut?

Do you use tap tempo on the Timeline?  I keep mine at the front to make tap tempo easier.

funny, my pt2 is just a little too small - I've got a soft case and I'm not looking to sell ... but I would say that prior to this I hada Gorm board about a quarter of the size ... so if you think it's too large now - just rectify that by buying more pedals... you won't notice the weight difference over the case ;)
A sig-nat-eur? What am I meant to use this for ffs?! Is this thing recording?

While I would never encourage people to buy more pedals, if the PT2 is "a bit too large" then I daresay at some point you'll find the PT1 "a bit too small."
I totally filled my PT1 and I hardly ever even use pedals. The case isn't as bad as it looks although my son figured out how to open it pretty quickly so the latches aren't amazing.

I have a pt-1 that i just got. I'm pleased with it. it's strong and protective enough for just loading in and out of a car yourself. A strymon would fit in the top tier but you'd need to pull out some of the padding foam to accomodate it more comforably. I keep my strymons on the bottom row.

I would prefer my strymons to be on the top tier actually. So maybe a Pedaltrain 2 with the larger stronger case IS going to be the better choice. Don't really want to take away foam from the case

If you are going to use the tap tempo on a Timeline it may make sense to put it on the bottom row.  It will be awkward to use that with it on the top row.
