  • Yeah all the plugin sites seem to be doing this.

If you’re using it for polyphonic it is pretty amazing. For voice stuff I have been demoing AutoTune 8 and honestly think it’s better. Not the auto mode, the graphical (manual) mode, you’ve got a lot more flexibility to retain more of the original performance (and tone). Not on sale though which is unfortunate.

Do this test blind, see if you have a preference...

  • I'd love to play around with it, just to do V/Vm style song manipulation, but I'm guessing that would get stale after a while.

I got Melodyne Editor a while back with the idea of trying to do some vocals, as I need as much help as I can get. But I haven't got around it to yet.

One area it has proved useful is in non-real time conversion of audio guitar parts to midi. It even did a decent job on polyphonic parts.

    It's not a competition.

  • I find you have to reassign notes sometimes in polyphonic mode. It’s not completely plug and play but it is incredibly powerful when you’ve got it set up correctly.

  • I'm running Editor and it's so inspiring. Being able to take an MBV-stye wall of sound and convert it to MIDI, you end up finding some really awesome sounds.

Totally. I've tried it with acoustic guitar, cello, and violin, and it's brilliant. You do need to tidy up the finished product a bit but the core of the performance is there.
