Corporates didn't like that idea and came up with Mothers of Invention. Generally accepted as The Mothers. Still good though.

Soft Machine in French translates as 'Machine Molle' which leads to my nomination for Matching Mole, the group Robert started after Softs.

Lars Fredricksen (of Rancid- another good band name there) has a second band called The Bastards. Very good they are too.
