Looking For MP3 Recording App - Recommendations?

Somethimg simple and fuss free that I can use via my iPad. Just so I can record composition ideas, bits of playing, etc. Not after anything expensive. There seem to be a lot of free apps, but folk are saying they come with hidden costs or just aren't that good. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Have you tried Apple's Music memos? Sorry if that's too obvious  =)

Not too obvious at all. I shall investigate. Thanks.

On my iPad, for recording guitar stuff, I use JamUp Pro.

There's a not-Pro version which is free (IIRC), or certainly used to be.

    Amplitube isn't half-bad either.

Both offer all sorts of add-on packs (often quite nicely discounted), but you don't *need* those if you just want to capture some basic ideas before you forget them.  The add-ons are useful if/when you start using the iPad as a more central part of your recording process - ie the applications have a lot of functionality headroom if you need that in future.

(Obvs you also need an interface from the instrument into the iPad, but those are relatively cheap.)
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

  • Music Memos is great for capturing ideas quickly. Works with iCloud so it's easy to share, too.
