Mooer Yellow Compressor I got off eBay for £17. Love it to bits!

I've only bought one pedal so far this year (my birthday this week!) I tried to find a used fender bassman pedal and failed to go with my fender champion 600, modded to 5f1.  After failing I did a lot of research and bought a Joyo American Sound to give it a little bit of drive and be able to tweak fender sounds.  Absolutely paid off sounds great.

  • Possibly a little premature to say this given I’ve only owned it two weeks but unless something frankly ridiculous turns up out of the blue before the month’s out then I’d have to say the El Capistan tops 2017’s gear.

Honourable mentions to MXR Analog Chorus and T-Rex Mudhoney 2, both of which have earned their stripes and a permanent place on the board.

Dickinson Lo-Mo boost was end of 2016 so just misses out, though is another pedalboard essential.

All through slightly modded Deluxe Reverb.

  • I have bought, sold, and traded a good handful of pedals this year  but, this has gotten me to the point at which I'm pretty bloody happy (never say done!) with my pedal board.

My two notable additions/best FX purchases would be:

    Timmy
    Tumnus

My standout favourite has got to be my Bearfoot SYOD3 bought here a month or so ago.

I’ve always loved that Youtube clip of the monster tone Greg V achieved through that Tungsten Amp, and when it was mentioned here that this pedal could get me there, well I just had to get one.

It’s so dynamic and controllable with picking/strumming strength that I can go from clean to the most drive I need simply by adjusting the attack of my right hand.

It’s made me play more guitar this month than the past 6 combined, that’s when I know it’s something a little bit special!

With so many comparison web sites out there, how do I choose the best one?

Potential late addition - just snapped up the brand new Son Of Pharaoh fuzz from Black Arts Toneworks. Basically a Pharaoh Fuzz in a smaller enclosure retaining the top jacks (big deal breaker for me).

Top prize goes to the Gigrig G2 - not really a pedal as such but its changed the way I use them.

    Honourable mentions:

Analogman ARDx20 (bought - sold - rebought, amazing)
    Catlinbread Belle Epoch - wonderful

    Never Ever Bloody Anything Ever.

    For me it’s between:

Boss RV-5 - I love the “Modulate” setting
    Boss DD-500 - awesome delay
    We are all Chameleons...

  • RV-5 is hugely underrated, for that setting alone.

The spring setting on it is very good too, although not as good as the FRV-1. But the FRV-1 doesn't do Modulate...

  • Very much enjoying the warmth of the Analogman chorus I found on Gumtree recently.
Enjoying more going back to my amps drive rather than relying on pedals for OD.

  • Some great pedals in this thread.

    For me, 2017's best was:
    Amptweaker Tight Drive Pro
    Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh
    Seymour Duncan Vapor Trail

Looking forward to the following hopefully in 2018:
    Magnetic Effects White Atom
    Spaceman Orion
    Death By Audio Interstellar Overdriver
