Allow me to add a newer band who were, for a while, heavily influenced by Jellyfish - the much-maligned but inarguably fucking brilliant pop band that is McFly. A group of very capable singers and musicians who wrote utterly joyous songs. I've seen them live and they were bloody amazing too. They got a lot of stick, basically for being young and good-looking, and people obviously didn't think they were worth taking seriously.



Great hooks, great chord progressions, great arranging, superbly executed. I won't hear a word said against them (apart from the fact their lyrics are mostly bunk).

I really wanted to like McFly, since they’re a proper band who write and play their own material, not (as a lot of people assume) a put-together boy band... but I just couldn’t. I tried, but they were just too annoying.
