I've bought and sold LOTS but after much experimentation this is what I've settled on (partly due to changing my job & having reduced disposal income!).

At the start of 2017 I had :

Best: not a guitar... But- OilCity Alligator 90 pickup for the Esquire. The guitar now goes from LP Jr territory right through to standard Tele. The pickup has made this my go-to guitar.

Worst: Gibson Les Paul junior 2015. Sounded great, looked awesome, but I just couldn't play that neck comfortably. I only had it for 6weeks as there was no point keeping a guitar that hurt my hand.

To buy: If funds allow I'll add something for "heavier music"- a humbuckered Fender or partscaster.
It's not urgent- I've been happy with just these for several months. I'm playing more, which is the point!

Bit of a light year.   I bought electric and acoustic strings from Rotosound at The Guitar Show in February. Mid-year I picked up a used Ditto looper off @mcgraw and last Sunday, after following a tip in the amp section, bought a replacement amp bulb from a car shop.

Saying that, I have a Marshall 1x12 and might be getting the 2x12 version off a mate before the end of the year.  It's dirty, noisy and needs a good service, so plenty to get done to it.

A heavy year for me. 2 new guitars and a pedalboard rethink and downsize that still somehow led to lots of pedals. 

The guitars are both great. The Gold Jazzmaster and the Tele Custom. 

TTBZ

Very light year for me although I can't remember when I bought and sold things tbh! I don't think I bought or sold any guitars. 

Sold Laney GH50L after 11 years of it being my only amp. Bought Marshall Mini Jubilee combo to replace it and don't regret a thing except maybe going for a combo over a head version. 

Bought a Soul Food which I'm probably going to sell now as I can achieve a similar sound with other pedals.

Best buys unquestionable the Martin and the 2 Aussie drive pedals, which reignited the pedal-GAS and made me remember that pedals are brilliant.

No bad GAS. Even the Helix was good GAS. I effectively rented it for 6 months for under 100 quid, and I wouldn't be where I am now without having tried it. 

For next year, nothing planned at all at present. Currently lusting after Les Pauls and ES330s and high-end 50's-esque Strats, I am acutely aware I have a trip to Nashville in April combined with a 5th wedding anniversary (that's wood, apparently...)

EDIT2: forgot Polytune. Have probably still missed something
