What's your favourite Christmas food?

What's Hot

I like a Christmas food treat.

Last year I particularly enjoyed some smoked salmon & Camembert cheese on Nairn's oatcakes with a garnish of chives. I will be having the same again this year with a dram or two of single malt. I also like a prawn vol-au-vent and Christmas is the only time we have them.

What's you favourite Christmas foodie treat?

(I know, some wise ass is to bound to say stew)

  • I can't eat most snack things due to celiac, so for me it's christmas dinner.

Specifically... turkey, sausages, sausages in bacon, stuffing, bread sauce, roast potatoes, sprouts, carrots, parsnips, gravy and cranberry sauce. It's the pretty much the best thing on earth.

Though I understand there may be a gluten free pork pie coming my way this year, which is SUPER exciting...

  • Don't usually go for trad Christmas type meals.

But love Yorkshire Puddings, best part of a roast.

Weirdly I prefer boxing day food, aka turkey sandwiches. top tip, add a dash of horseradish sauce to them, you can thank me later.

This stuff's nice, I'd eat it all year round but it's not in the shops other than at Christmas:

Boxing Day: Cold meats, mashed potato, some heated sprouts and stuffing and masses of pickles! Trifle to follow and lots of red wine and port! (maybe a cigar in front of the windburner too!)

  • Pretty much all of it. This includes mince pies, M&S duck, pigs in blankets, pate, panattone, Spanish turron, cheese, pickles, chutney, etc. Probably more savoury than sweet.

I've never tried cooking turkey, partly because my wife's gran does the best turkey in the world, injected with cognac and all that, and it still isn't that nice.
