I saw them perform it "live" on an very short run 80s rock tv programme, I guess the studio was in south London somewhere. Anyone remember what it was called?

That's a tidy version...it's not got every subtlety of the recording but that's not what it's about...very much in the spirit of Gary though!

I can play all the parts except the fast run. When I do it just doesn't sound right, obviously I'm slower, but I think it's something to do with the beat.

I do play it further up the fretboard on the fatter strings because it's an easier reach.

Yeah, I transcribed it...doesn't mean I can play it!

Getting there but some of the position shifts are so greasy

The way I do that fast run there's only one tricky position change, but I usually totally stuff it.
