Looking for recommendations for a versatile valve amp suitable home use and small gigs.    Ideally inexpensive amp that can give overdriven tones but can give defined cleans if required.

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

    I always say this... Yerasov GTA15 J
Under £400 delivered for a hand wired Russian built amp. Superb definition, creamy overdrive and sparkly cleans. Incredible amp for the money.

    Yep.
Superb amps - as a pedal platform. I’m not a fan of the drive channel. That said, I love mine.

  • Thanks for reccomendations, currently swaying towards the Yerasov GTA15 or even the Gavrosh 10.

Does  anybody have any experience of Yerasov?

Depends what the OP's idea of "inexpensive" is.

True, Mesa amps go for a fraction of their wildly inflated retail prices, but you still need to have £600-£700 to get the ones that people generally like. I've seen plenty of Nomads for less than that, but they're very much the black sheep of the Mesa family. If you want a Mark series or a Lonestar you're looking at the best part of a grand, if not more, and it's a lucky man who can call that "inexpensive".

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

Marshall Origin, should be out relatively soon. Takes pedals really well set clean, but turn up the master and preamp gain and it's got a classic Marshall crunch  even the 50c is pretty portable.

Thanks for the suggestions........still looking at the Yerasovs but also now considering options with can attenuate the power for home use (maybe even headphones so as not to wake up the sprogs) but can be cranked for small venues

Seen the Laney L5 studio and wondering if the 5W would be loud enough to cut through a heavy handed drummer, or if there are other attenuated amps out there worth considering?
