That's the birds' food ...

View from my home office window about 30mins ago ...

We've had a pair of Muntjac's living in the garden for months now.  Often see them around, but not pinching the bird food.

    Great picture.

I was driving from Grimsby to Scunthorpe on Boxing Day and saw about ten deer grazing in the fields off the A180.They're quite common round here, with all the surrounding farmland, but it's very rare you see them.Lovely when you do though.

I don't know how territorial there are, and whether they stick to their territories if they are, but we had a couple here last year, bred their littl 'un in a quiet corner, and then we saw her feeding it too.  Don't know if it's the same one or not.

I know they destroy plants/trees/etc, but - tbh - it saves me some pruning!

No they are not very territorial AFAIK.  There's quite a bit of trepidation regarding the gradual migration North of the Munjac - I've never seen one up here in the Highlands yet but I believe they are quite common around Loch Lomond and in the Scottish Borders.  Rangers will shoot them on sight as they are regarded as a pest but I'm not so sure they are as much of a threat as our native species.

I'm no gardener and I'd be quite happy to have a Muntjac family take up residence, though it's unlikely with a couple of Lurchers around.

Unusual to see one on its own, isn’t it? I guess it’s mates were close by.

I get them in my garden. I’ve only seen them once (grazing on my veg patch), but I see their foot prints. I mostly see how active they are when it’s snowed.

We see them around quite often.

We've got about 2 acres that's just left "wild" and pretty sure that Mrs Muntjac had little muntjac in there through the summer.  Watched her suckling the littl'un around the garden, and taking it on a tour of all the best tree and bush food sources.  Plus they often come down to the pond (which is close to the house) for water.  Mr & Mrs still seem to be around most of the time.

The garden would provide quite a lot of food, but we'd prefer to get it from Morrisons instead
    ;)

There were half a dozen partridges within 50yds of the house yesterday, one of the dogs chased out a Pheasant the other morning (and caught it unfortunately).  Rabbits we have a-plenty.  The goose pond is currently free of inhabitants, and we keep thinking about some bringing in some ducks & chickens ... but we'd rather keep the wildlife alive ...

I get Deer nearly every day and they mooch about for:

    Apples when ripe
    Low hanging Apple Tree leaves
    Accorns
    Fallen Cherry Tree leaves

They also like a nice sit in the sun too when is quiet and have been there for 5 hour duration some times...just sitting, resting, taking in the ambience...
