recommendation for decent soldering iron

my trusty old 40w soldering iron died. No idea where I got it from. I bought a new one from Wickes but it is rubbish.

Can anyone recommend a decent one that I can order online from somewhere?

Depends on how much money you want to spend. I'd recommend 50W minimum and an iron that has temperature control.

They are chinese clones, but the tips (you'll probably need something bigger than the one it will come with) and heating elements are available as parts so you should get a decent life out of it.

I have a Weller TCP system, but that is expensive pro-level kit that will last forever.

I think I'll get something more basic than those, one like that would be a nice luxury to have but I don't think Mrs A would agree!
