Parlor Guitar

What's Hot
I think I've talked myself into it and I think I want one.

but...
What's the difference from a 3/4 guitar?
What's the difference from a Spanish guitar?
What's the difference from a Flamenco guitar?
What's the difference from a Folk guitar?

?

I don't think it's the same guitar because of strings and sounds... But to my untrained eye 'that's the same guitar'.

So what gives?
What makes a parlor guitar not a guitar from my list of questions?

and... 'you know me' 'If you've seen guitars that I get excited about'.. - You know I'm shopping for a high end one.
One that should not let down in the tone/sound department.

  • Could do a lot worse than one of these. The electronics are incredible and it sounds sweet!

  • My (limited) understanding:
A parlour guitar is a small bodied acoustic steel strung (unlike flamenco or Spanish guitars).
They're usually smaller in the body than a folk guitar & have a full sized neck unlike a 3/4 size guitar.

I have a Faith Mercury & it's amazing for songwriting and playing on the sofa- really comfortable to play & sounds brilliant.

I'd suggest a Gretsch Jim Dandy as a good cheap option.

I'd stick to $500.00 (IDK but the internet is throwing me prices in $ and I know that's cheaper in £)..
This one I like, seller's in Japan, free shipping to UK.
I'm thinking... 1930's from Harmony if I do get one.

Or something from someone else brand new (and maybe costing more) that I can plug in maybe.

But thanks for all that spec about what a parlor guitar is, in terms of dimensions of small body full sized neck.

seconded. Tone-wise they punch well above their weight. I lurve mine.
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

I have a faith parlor also, brilliant guitar, been abused over the years but still plays perfect. Down side is, I'm not sure how it will look hung down by your knees when playing.

Not as bad as a low slung banjo

She must be covering either a cigarette burn or a blob-stain on her dress to sling it that low

They are certainly "middly", but I'd only describe a nasty sounding one as "boxy". So far, I've not come across any that I wish to describe in those terms.
