C18Q1 Semi hollow acousticy build

So this is going to be my project since I was going to do it at some point anyway..

Its going to be for a very good friend of mine.. The story here is he does play and gig and record music so a year or so ago on his birthday I needed a new project so offered to make him a guitar (which would cover the next several Birthday and Xmas gifts   (which sort of fits the brief???  Kinda  ) ... 

He has been through a lot in the last year and so it was all kind of forgotten. To help him get out of his bad situation he started getting in to his music again this year and playing gigs and recording new material and we started talking about his guitar again recently.

So the idea for me was to make him a guitar he can play not only at home for recording but at his acoustic gigs and anything else he may need it for so its one guitar that covers everything.

Now David loves his glam rock, so the design was always going to have to be pretty out there in terms of blinglyness BUT this is me building it so I have tried to make it as tasteful as I can but something that also appeals to his glittery side.

This was the initial idea..  And the plan was always to use a piezo pickup (a tune o matic one) to give him on stage acoustic sounds.

Then I decided I wanted to use a nice flame top that I already have in stock so the design changed to this

THEN I decided that I wanted to make it as acousticy as I can so the design changed to this.  With this set up I can put the piezo on the three way switch and can keep the classic knob control layout and it wont need a separate output. And those black lines where the neck pickup should be is an idea I had for its sound holes.

Im still not 100% sure about this in which case I may just leave the piezo out and go for the second design. the reason being im not sure exactly how acoustic sounding I can make it where it still usable at say an open  mic night.

So that's how things stand at the moment..  Im just finishing a build at the moment (I will do a thread after delivery) so I will probably start this in about two weeks.
