Did I miss it?

Oh the 70s and on and all those great guitar players, but now we have 10 year old girls givin' them a run for their money....

So Peeps, when did the guitar hero play his last lick?

Know what you mean.  I haven't looked lately but I would guess something like Rolling Stones 100 greatest guitarists is 99% guys from the last century.  It's harder to get noticed these days and I think young folk are less into idolising musicians than we were in the 70's.

I think we are going through an era like the early 70's though when as Phil Lynott once put it "you had to have a fooking GCE in guitar to get in a band".  Too much interest in technical players these days.  If anyone can point me in the direction of a modern Wayne Kramer I'd be very interested.

    Never mind...

They murdered each other, every one trying to outdo the last solo at the expense of the music.

I always wondered what the J stood for in Yngwie J. Malmsteen.

    It's not a competition.

History - This it how it goes... some pioneers (a few forward thinking innovators) use new technology, invent new technology, define the electric guitar (as a relevant example) and generally pave the way. Once a group of people have done this then five million ‘copiests’ - could be a fizzy drink, a style of hat, a shape of car - come along and do the same. Only with new tech.
Perhaps the question is - when did the hero of anything die?

He'd have got more if he wasn't a bit racist and didn't look like an accountant pulling a face like he was suffering from a hernia ;)

"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
