A nice little guitar part I learned.

The song is "It's Getting Better", a late-60s pop hit for Cass Elliot (aka Mama Cass from the Mamas and Papas).

I've known this track since childhood, but it was only more recently that I paid any attention to the guitar part. It's quite low in the mix, panned hard right. When I was listening to the song one day, I made out one little bit of the guitar track at some point in the verse, and ended up scrolling back to see what I'd missed - the whole verse has a very pretty, melodic, surprisingly intricate guitar part which accentuates the chord changes really nicely.

I think it was played by James Burton, but I'm not 100% on this. Anyway, I pulled that part out and learned it, and there it is.

Nicely done Connor and another one of those double stop parts that can join the likes of "Brown-eyed girl" and "Son of a Preacher Man" and I'm sure there are others.

    Great stuff

Wow, haven't heard that song for about ten years.  I had a gf who loved it and the song just kind of grew on me.
Nicely played and I wasn't even aware of that part at any conscious level.

Nice.  Reminds me a little of Johnny Marr.

(But then every time I hear Heaven Know... I am get a tip of the tongue experience and the closest I get is some 60s hippy band with a Woman singer. My theory is Johnny knows and that why he always seems less than gushing about the merits of that particular song. But I digress)

    Thanks for posting.

Lovely playing mate, and the sort of stuff I aspire to do in my band. I don't play 'solos' as such, this is my idea of lead guitar playing.

    Very nice.
Much prefer it to the shreddy stuff.
