I'm not even a desperate seller - £350.00 (or best offer) - 1950's Catania Carmelo
What's Hot
I am so stoked I scored a very cool from the 1950's for £200.00 today.
There's a basic version of this on Reverb going for £275.00 and that's it.
The same actual guitar I have maybe/probably/for sure the same make/model and county (Surrey) - came up on an Italian auction site from 2014.
So IDK... I can subscribe to see how much it sold for, but believe you me Ladies & Gentleman I am happy letting this guitar sit in my private stash... but this was a case of, I didn't get the make and model guitar I've been Jonesing for... But I got a European one instead built in Italy, for a good price and, I think that's pretty cool.
I love my local music shop, so I won't dwell too much on the ins and outs of what happened, but, basically, it was a case of.. They knew not what they had got (sold it to me, called it another guitar, I can see how they would think that given the condition it's in, it's sporting a 'I think' really cool sticker inside that's old and also looks Italian.
I Googled that in, it was the guitar that I bought - from the seller/shop who sold it to me... So I did a little detective work and found I bought a 1950's Catania Carmelo.

Somebody else, many years ago, stuck a sticker on the inside of it being serviced somewhere in Italy, but the correct/original sticker is still there that has the make, model and serial on it.
It's a nice a guitar, I like how it sounds, I just had my heart set on another Stella/Harmony (American) guitar...
But this is in a loving home and as soon as somebody wants to make me an offer on it, I'm happy at it.
Bought it today.
It has no truss rod, still sounds amazing.
Original hardware, works nice, feels nice - I'd even go as far as to say it's a better quality than the Stella or Harmony I really want.
It's got a nice twang to it/the tone sounds good.
It's a very light weight guitar, I have no guitar scales, but I have a cheap guitar that's roughly the same, it's not a parlor, it's a classical, but it's noticeably light than that cheap Encore Classic that the same shape and size. This Catania Carmelo sounds amazing, alas, recording, some of its beauty (not all of its beauty) but some of its beauty gets lost when recording with it, but, that's why I'm and no one's asking £3, 500.00... It is what it is/a vintage 1950's Catania Carmelo, very stock, very good almost mint condition if it wasn't for that old sticker, guitar. - would also make a beautiful first guitar too.
