Boss Angry Driver

What's Hot

Is anyone using one yet? What's the verdict?

I seen one for sale on here recently, but the reason for sale was that it didn't play nice with a SS amp.

Anyone have any joy with it using a valve amp?

This pedal could potentially save me a lot of headache's with the new board I'm building, unless it's shit, of course!

I'm keen to hear about this too, for the exact same reason...

i wouldn't regard either as ''distortion''.  they're not high gain, Marshall/amp distortion type pedals.

the implication was that the distortion side of the pedal is flawed cos it only has one tone knob

Have you used one bud? The demo’s all sound good to me, but haven’t had any proper feedback from anyone who’s actually used on

The implication was, don;t get the Angry Driver cos the distortion half of the pedal only has one tone control.

  • Yeah but I’m not going to be using the distortion side of it for gigs. It will only be for practise where I don’t have my Marshall amp, so I’m sure I could live with it.

I’d use the BD-2 side of the pedal all the time though as I’m a fan.

The ThorpyFX Warthog only has one tone control and that’s bloody awesome!

  • I have one and it's not bad, although it is hard to dial in IMO.   I only play through a Roland Cube but am happy enough with it.  It sounds awful through the clean channels, but alright through the dirty ones.  It sounds way better with the gain on the pedal low  and used to boost some of the dirt on the amp and I only use the Angry Charlie part of the pedal, although the Angry Charlie > Blues Driver isn't too bad and can get thick and fuzzy if you're after that sort of thing.

It depends on what you're after really. There are better dirt pedals out there for sure, including the underrated Boss Power Stack, which is the best OD going into high gain distortion pedal that Boss has out there on the market today.  Who knows what they'll release at NAMM though.

I wouldn't recommend it but, as I got mine as a gift, I won't be selling it.
