Headline (loosely) filched from the Daily Express, but I thought we could compile a topical list of songs (favourite or otherwise) hinting at dementia or amnesia etc ...

... such as ...

Remember a Day by Pink Floyd

What say you? Come on, let’s be having your suggestions.

It's all relative to the person suffering with dementia...

Find out what songs they liked, and play them - the mind/our space/universe/existence is very personal, and  dealing with something as deep and personal as to the mind and dementia - it can't be pigeon holed into any particular genre, but goes person by person.
Same thing with sights and smells too... What smells are universal so may be a better remedy (Nature: flowers/grass/the sea) etc.. (since Nature's broader, find smells from nature) than looking for songs from the internet to help demntia, why not just ask the person with dementia?
Talk about music and dance or whatever?

Unless this thread is posts meant for people sharing on a case by case basis with stories of songs you've found helpful with dementia?.. IDK.

  • Remember the time - Wacko Jacko
When you were young - Killers

Joking aside, my great grandma had a stroke and later dementia and lost all speech. She could however, still join in if you sang a song she knew. Different side of the brain for arty stuff apparently. Had to sing Patsy Kline - Crazy with her everyday or she got the hump! She loved that she could still communicate in that way.

The day people start asking me what year do I think it is, is when I'm going to start to worry.
(Especially when 1997's not the right answer)..

My internet's fucking fast today though.
