whats the tax/import cost of buying stuff from America?

What's Hot
What sort of percentage does it add to the cost, and do you get sent some kind of invoice for the extra dosh or is payment demanded before the package is handed over?

I'm trying to get some hardware and I can only find it in the US so far

The main is cost is VAT at 20% (which is charged on the goods value and the P&P). Duty, when it's applied, was 2.7% on musical goods but may have gone up a little. You'll also get stung for an admin charge of £8 - 11 or so by the carrier.

You'll either be charged COD or you'll get a card first advising what the charge is and how to pay (online), depending on the carrier.

20% vat plus duty 3-5%  as usually you won’t be setup with product codes. Clearance and handling fee depends on courier. Personally I avoid USPS shipping where possible and get it fedex or Ups more expensive but quicker and stuff does not get lost for weeks in the Parcel Force backlog Centre and custom and service charges usually more reasonable especially if you have an account. Again tracking works globally USPS stops once handed to parcel force you have to then contact them to find out what’s happening.

if it’s just a few bits fine if you need to pull box loads message me and I can give you a couple of useful shippers our US suppliers found and we use.

Also, most banks/credit card providers will charge a 2.5 - 3% foreign currency fee.

If you buy a lot from,or travel, abroad, it's worth getting a card that doesn't apply these charges.

ABM are German, aren't they? Have you tried buying direct? If they can't help, I'm sure there are some European outlets.
