Loose Ferrule on strat vintage tuning peg

I just swapped a set of vintage style tuning pegs on my stratocaster to find that some ferrules (the sheaf that lines the hole on the headstock) are loose and fall out when tipped.
Any recommendations for keeping them tightly inserted? is there a way to expand them or should I use wood glue to give them a little hold?
On a positive note, new word for the day: ferrule.

Wrap them carefully with one turn of paper masking tape.
