    Interesting. Forgive me for being thick here, but when he changes pitch with the machine head how does that work as he seems to be fully not partially capo-ed? Or am I seeing it wrong? or is he bending behind the nut?

    Capos don't hold the pitch, you can still use the tuners perfectly normally.

    And wish more people would do so and check the tuning after lumping an over tight capo on.

    They are not standard tuners more like banjo pegs, see this vid from Nick Harper with is specially adapted Lowden  :
