Just about to re-valve a couple of Marshall's and have always in the past used the JJ std EL34 simply because they are cheap and readily available and have always being reliable.

I'm thinking of trying the Electro Harmonix El34 so wondered if anyone has any experience of these and specifically how they might compare to JJ's.

Brighter-sounding and more lively - but with a short life expectancy.

Ok , sounds interesting but if the life expectancy is short maybe I'll stick to JJ.

Interesting that Friedman have switched to the EH EL34 in their EL34 based amps from JJ as they were starting to experience higher levels of failures with their JJ's.
