Based on the guitars that you own (or have owned), which one is / was the best? And why?

Definitely my Journeyman Strat, it’s the most “Stratty” Strat I’ve ever owned

Westone thunder 1. First electric guitar i bought. paid weekly to a mates mum who ordered it for me from her catalogue. Couldnt get Hp etc parents unemployed. Loved the guitar it was right handed so i had to restring it, file the nut and remove the volume and tone knobs. Its not my best but the only one i wouldnt consider selling. ( The fact no one would buy it anyway does help.)

  • My Esquire partscaster.
It's the only (complete) guitar I have. Therefore it's the best.

    G & L Tribute Fallout.
Looks best, plays best, sounds best. Though the competition is hardly tough.
Can't sing, can't dance, can handle a guitar a little.

  • Squire Affinity Tele.  Stock.  I don't understand why but it plays and sounds great, stays in tune, and oddly, I like it because it was so cheap I don't freak out  about taking it to gigs(although I would be crushed if anything happened to it).

The 2006 Relic Strat in my profile pic - great neck, sounds fantastic....

I’ve owned ‘real’ 63 & 65 Strats - this is easily in the same league.

Mexican Fender telecaster from the early 2000's.  Original, with absolutely no modifications.

Others cost me more, and get played regularly, but ask me to play live tomorrow, and it will be the tele that I would turn to first.

  • 70s Jap Frankenstrat, bitsa.

Ironically my first guitar, which I have replaced nearly every bit of over the last 28 years.
Keep trying other more expensive beasts, but none of them come close.

Knaggs Severn with P90s... original enough to be different but kind of the guitar you might imagine if your PRS and your vintage Fender Strat had a love child.

  • Right now, and having gigged it last night, it's this one:

Yarp, that's my self-built Nuno-ish thing. The action is as even as it's possible to get all the way up the neck, and I've even had to raise it a bit so I can play it! It's just so goddamn comfy to play.

  • My Tokai LS1 R4 is my fave, even eclipsing my Jagerized R0. The latter is stupendous and looks the biz. The Tokai doesn’t sound as vital as the Jäger but these days I prefer a chunkier neck so it’s the Tokai that gets the most playtime. It’s among the nicest feeling LPs I’ve ever played

So hard to decide on 'best': the elusive definition of quality.  In terms of what do I find myself picking up, playing and indeed historically modding the crap out of more than any other I've ever known, it's got to be my somewhat adulterated Troy van Leeuwen Jazzmaster.  I love it more than one perhaps should an inanimate object.

I can't even blame my own stupidity for a reluctant sale.

Probably my Edwards LP RE 130 ALS (or something catchy like that).
Damn thing can almost play itself.
