  • I might have a go, if I can source a body and neck for a short scale guitar like a mustang.

    Yes.

Wonder if we can come up with some sort of interesting spin on the challenge this year.  Perhaps a couple of different categories?

It's run out of steam a bit in recent years with not many completions, so I'd want to try to ensure we built up the participation levels!
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

i probably won't be able to enter as i am still waiting to move house and my workshop is all packed up.   hopefully that will be sorted in the next week or two then i will be setting up a new workshop, starting a couple more commissions   and trialing lots of modern acoustic construction techniques

Having said that, I might need a quick cheap build to get me back into the swing of things but it might not be in time for this

We could do it as a scrounge - not a penny to spend apart from on strings...

Admittedly, maybe not the best one to get loads of finishers.

I can buy a used acoustic, if that counts?

Actually, how easy would it be to build one (I mean, for you to do it obviously) for a low budget?

theoretically - really cheap.   The only real parts required are tuners and the rest can be done from scrap and reclaimation.  you could even go down the friction peg route and not have to buy a single part if you used all reclaimed wood

of course, this method often requires a lot more work to process all that reclaimed wood into something suitable for an acoustic

I've an old CMI bolt on Les Paul that would fit the bill nicely. Obviously you'll want to swap out the old Super Distortion and Mighty Might pickups for the classic Artec and tele combo

why not do a very broad - hollow guitar build-

This could include acoustic or thinline, semi-acoustics????

Yeah, take all buckers out of necks and stick cheap tele pickups in and madness like that :)
