I've liked the look of the St Vincent signature guitar from the first time I saw one, @FatPete was kind enough to produce me a pdf of the body from a photo and Deed-Poll on OSG forum did the magic and CNC'd the mahogany body.....its just come off the CNC and I am genuinely emotional!.........

I will be using a Dano 3 a side neck,(from @SteveRobinson) ;;;3 P90's, Strat switch, some design elements have veen changed compared to the real thing, controls follow the line of the front bevel, weight relief, pickups, hardtail....

Can't decide on colour! It should be outrageous! I'm thinking Burnt Orange with matching headstock!

    Oh FFS! Another colour choice!*

*I don't have the facility to do large flake....

It needs to be rattlecan or stain and wipe on poly....

The original colour was somilar to Pelham/Lale Placid Blue amd I'm also drawn to that, perhaps a bit darker.......a trip to the Auto paint supplier is in order methinks, Ive also asked for the scratchplate to be white not black.....

Sparkles you say?... from a rattle can?...

getchoass down to b&q... they do a clear acrylic with glitter flake in it...

spray your base colour, spray the sparkle and then clear over the top...

Expect to see my jazzmaster style at some point and I've got a pot of nice purple flakes for it and maybe a white pickguard

  • I'm not going to enter the colour debate, but that is a cracking CNC job!

  • Is it getting a MM-type headstock or something more appropriate to the body shape?

Its getting a recycled, new old stock, Danelectro 3 a side neck, so keeps the spirit of the original, but with IMHO a better shape headstock, it looks ok with the neck laid onto a full size pdf print out of the body.......I hate the MM one......hope it look ok in reality!

This is not a slavish copy, I'm trying to create something whacky 60's era spaceage but with playabilty.......like Dano etc might have made, a bit Jetsons....Ive had a whacky idea with the scratchplate....

What’s the wacky idea.  I was going to suggest Perspex sprayed on the back....

@WezV I briefly considered a full length scratchplate following the flat top just in from the bevel, but changed my mind........
Talk me through painting Perspex, I like the idea.......although Tom at Gig Ink does Acrylic with a film on the rear, but I would be interested in how the painting is done, what type of paint, prep etc

Why not go clear Perspex... you can put ANY design you want behind it and change it when you want something different!
