Just finished putting this together. Swamp Ash body with Wudtone Dairy Blonde finish, Squier CV Strat neck and tuners, Bulldog Sweet 62 B+N, Oil City Triple Blues M, parallel/series wiring via push/push pot, Brass tremolo block. Sounds and plays great.

    That's great, nice job! Love the finish. Are you finding that the brass block has much influence on the tone? Just interested.

    The pickups are great. I had them on that poplar body I got off you Mark.

    I haven't played it long enough to form a view about the brass block Megii. Certainly sounds fine to my ears so far.

    Post edited as I just realised it can't have two sets of tuners; it actually has the originals from the CV Squier neck. The Axesrus locking tuners have just gone on the neck of one of my other partscasters, hence the confusion

    I must have wow'd you at the time, as I went to add one and found it just subtracted instead! (Now restored).

    Very nice, as I should have said when you first posted it.

    Thanks guys. I think I've put together two Teles and a TeleStrat since then, and I've just started building a Tele from scratch. Just on to fretting the neck.

    @dean2371

    Check this Thomann deal on the GK3 internal kit, almost £50 less than most UK sources.

    I feel a mod to my mex Strat coming on.

    @Fusionista

    Supposing you already have a VG, GR or other 13 pin enabled unit then just fit it into a guitar and you are good to go.

    I have done a couple of Strat's and I am a klutz so anyone with time and patience will manage it just fine.

    I drilled a hole in the body inline with the jack output for the 13 pin connector and had to chisel a wee ledge just by the edge of the bridge to accomodate the GK3 pickup best as it need to be as close to the edge of the bridge as you can go.

    Then 4 firter holes drilled in the scratchplate for the 3 way switch, (for MAG only/MAG & Synth/Synth) LED and the S1 & S2 switches.

    You don't strictly need the LED but I used it for blinding marauding hordes of drunk punters.
    ;)

    This is my current Roland Ready stable and I cannot find the CAR MiM Strat one I did pictures at the mo.

    Next up is this for the conversion.

    Now that UK shops and Thomann are doing them at a decent price (2nd hand GK3 Kits used to go for £60 to £70) it would be rude not to.

    Very nearly bought a Roland MIM the other day, but managed to resist the temptatio.  Now to convert one I already have.

    By 13-pin unit I'm guessing you mean a synth processor, which is what I meant by 'extra gear'. Any recommendations on what's best, where to find, what to pay ?

    (BTW love that tele.)

    Have PM'd you some info as it wouldn't post here.

    Yes the Tele is very nice indeed and the GK kit is fairly low profile with the switches and LED on the upper and lower bouts of the Tele. Only a dual stacked pot and 3 way switch (and HEX pickup natch) give the game away.

    The MIM Roland ready Strats are very good especially the newer ones which have more choice fretboard and colour wise.

    I prefer modding either a partscaster or MIM Strat because you can pimp it any way you wish.

    Apologies for the thread hijack/derail @dean2371, I am a naughty boy.

    Enjoy your new guitar.
