What an abortion. Still it’s useful to see a real one. The ones TPP uses to advertise on eBay are stock photos. You don’t get the guitar you see.

If that monstrosity turned up (not that I’d even consider ordering one) I wouldn’t be  amused.

His ‘Whaam’ Rickenbackers look ok from what I’ve seen - no relicing involved though.

That fretboard is a joke...

It's interesting to finally see one of these Painted Player guitars outside of their own ads.

I've defended them in the past, on the basis that people know what  they're getting and if they're prepared to pay a lot of money for a modded Squier or MIM Fender, it's their business.

But now we see that the "base guitar" may not even be what it says it is... and that relic work is horrendous.

I've had a closer look at this now... OMG. Classic example of someone trying to replicate decades of natural wear on a thin nitro finish by gouging chunks out of 2mm thick poly. And what the hell is that stuff on the neck, it looks like glue? Overall, it looks far, far worse than any photos I've seen of the TPP items. It's pretty clear what TPP is doing - relicing an AVRI nitro guitar to produce a resaonable-looking result, and using those photos with the disclaimer that the guitar pictured may not be the one you get. If you opt for a MIM or Squier CV version you'll get the nasty chipped poly monstrosity. The seller here is also lying about the price being £1699 when the Squier is actually £1299.

(Can't believe I said that a Squier is worth £1299.)
