Yes.  If I had the spare cash I’d be happy to get another.

  • There's nothing in this year's lineup that interests me.
Generally, their prices are way more than I'd consider, so I'd more than likely go second hand for the few things they do that I like.
I should have bought that P90-loaded SG I saw in Seattle for £450 back in 2007.
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....

  • I'd love a 335/345/355. The Memphis stuff looks great at the moment. If I had the money, definitely.

Yes, but not this model year. The neck carving machine is stuck on “slim taper” and that suuuuuuccckkkkssss. For me. YMMV.

It seems to have been stuck on that setting for quite a while, unfortunately.

Yes, if they could guarantee it was the very last serial number issued before they went bust.
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

  • Yes I would. Especially the tasty limited run 2018 SG Junior...

I bought a 2016 LP Special unseen last year on a Black Friday deal and I'm very pleased that I took the punt.  But normally I'm much more likely to go 2nd hand.  New prices are usually way too rich for my wallet.

  • I wouldn't buy any of the current spec USA/Nashville stuff, but that's because I don't particularly like the specs or anyting by the SG Standard, and I already have one.

But acoustics, Memphis and CS? Hell yeah. They're still great guitars. That's what's SO frustrating about all the corporate-level decision making.

No, not unless the bring back the 50's neck on the USA models.

Oh and lower the price by around 30-40% across the board. £2.5k+ is ridiculous for a LP Standard.

I am not a Gibson fan, so no I wouldn't.

However I am a Fender man, and if they were in the same position then I would still buy one without hesitation (model and finances permitting).

So in theory, yes I would.

I'm not interested in the pricey, blingy stuff. I'm more about the stripped down type guitars. Even so, specs aren't great and haven't been for a while. For balance, Fender make nothing i'm interested in currently, either. It's odd, there seems to be a lot of choice, but for some people like myself, it feels like there is little or no choice.

I don’t see why not,  They’re not going to start giving the guitars away.

Also, they seem to have been turning out some really good stuff lately, (although I only have experience of the Memphis guitars).

I’m sure the Gibson brand will survive this.

To be fair, I was considering one of their SG faded or whatever the poverty models are but then I found a mint 2005 Standard for way less.

  • Not whilst they insist on using that nitro lacquer stuff which picks up marks from everything from guitar stands to cases, crazes and even falls off in chunks. ;)
