Love this. The song’s been done to death but his playing here is so vibrant - and that voice....

Has to be Dutch band Focus .. they saved the show. There was no way of measuring whether anyone was watching the show and BBC bosses were thinking of cancelling it. On came Focus - they weren't played on the radio and nobody had heard of them. After one appearance UK record shops were inundated with demands for their two albums .. Polydor had one plant running 24/7  to keep up with demand. Focus had two albums in the charts a couple of weeks later and the OGWT was saved (story comes from Whispering Bob himself).

    Here's an excerpt ...

  • Humble pie, black coffee is great. I think Marriott turns up years later to do all or nothing and pretends he can’t hear whispering bob and tells him to speak up.

How about the "Chairman of the Bored"  Iggy Pop.  Great guitar playing from Scott Thurston and yes that is Glen Matlock on bass.

  • Bob was on breakfast telly this morning and there were a few seconds of him interviewing an extremely rough looking Keith Richards, so maybe that.

  • When I think of this song, I immediately think of this performance of it...

    "That'll do"

Really really love the Feelgood's "Roxette", and Talking Heads doing "Psycho Killer" too.

Off the top of my head I'd say Dr Feelgood Roxette and SAHB Delilah

Having been catching some OGWT shows late evening on TV recently, I'm reminded as to what a great show it was. I'd love to have online access to the entire run again, I very much enjoy it on whilst noodling around online with my iPad, and there are plenty of performances that you just HAVE to stop and watch.

Roxette video added earlier by someone, so here's SAHB hamming it up beautifully with Delilah!
