I must be mad!
Inspired by the St Vincent signature model, I have comissioned a body and will recycle a NOS Danelectro neck, 3 chrome covered P90's Dark blue metallic paint white plastics.....sort of what if Danelectro had made a St V  signature guitar. The body should arrive on Tuesday, I have all the hardware and paint...neck is done.....maker of the body is called Dan, its a Danelectro neck, D logo'd tuners, so.....rude not to....

CNC'd body is Mahogany and based off a drawing traced from a photo, so closeish......neck pocket modded to take the Dano neck, and there will be a modified Fender Toronado bridge and P90's instead of Mini Hums, controls follow the angle of the bevel, weight relieved under the scratchplate...

In the photos the body is not finished, pickup routs needed enlarging, final sanding, hole for electrosocket etc......

    Nice!
But why is it always the last piece of the jigsaw that's missing?

At last a bit of progress and a cock-up......
Pretty much finished mocking everything up, which highlighted a problem ,the neck pocket is too deep, entirely my fault as I totally forgot to tell the maker! So a Mahogany neck shim got made to sort the issue, it would be glued by now but the glue was frozen solid in the shed (!) and the local shop (for local people) was closed due to snow and ice........
    Photos....

All mocked up, a lucky coincidence is that the edges of the Toronado bridge match the angle of the bevel on the body.....

It will hopefully disappear under primer and paint

Neck on, not drilled yet, waiting for stainless cup washers

So, dear reader, carrying on from where we left off, the whole mess was mocked up and everthing fitted as it should, it got taken apart again and so began the wait for a dry day when I wasn't working so that paint could be applied......we got a cold grey, breezy day, but if I got myself in the lee of the fence all was good, attach a false neck to the body with a cup hook at the head end and hang it from a curtain rail over a hot radiator for a couple of hours, then, a few minutes before venturing outdoors stand the rattle can in a bowl of hot water, dry the can before use step out and spray......rinse and repeat a couple of times a day, this went really well, so much so that the paint didn't need flatting or t-cutting.......result, hang over the radiator for a week to thoroughly cure....
Then the parts were assembled back onto the body and I used the "sewing room" which has a nice big table to asemble, got it all done slid the neck into the neck pocket, with no screws, temporarily, so I could measure nut to saddles and get the saddle positions somewhere near scale length.......I left it sitting on the table for a couple of days at work, no dramas...then I got flu, proper full blown, in bed for three days flu, three weeks later Im still coughing....anyroad at my lowest ebb, Ms nb57 asks me to move the guitar as she needs to sew.......after about the 10th time of asking, I grab the guitar by the neck (as you do) and watch as the body heads for the floor in slow motion, if you heard swearing and shouting in early March it was probably me......anyway the neck was fine.......the body however had a nice big chip and dent on the back of the bottom horn and a couple of paint scuffs, it all got set aside while I sulked and cursed my utter stupidity.
A couple of days ago I mixed a bit of car body filler for another job and made myself fill the chip and later sanded it back, along with a bit more filler, gently does it and a few light coats of paint and no-one would know, except you lot as I've grassed myself up!
It needs wiring up, a control cover making and the usual setting up, so its nearly there...wish me luck!
Ive done the standing in front of a mirror thing with it (silly old sod!) and it is surprisingly comfortable, anyway, photos...

Had a crazy few days so only just got up to date on this - and it looks superb!

I like the design very much indeed - I suspect this is extremelycomfortable to play? - and the build and finishing is excellent. And no -  noone would ever suspect there's a filled ding anywhere in the vicinity.

@Andyjr1515 ;thats because the ding is on the back Andy.......other half in Intensive Care had slowed things!
Apparently St V designed the body to accomodate the female form, particularly boobs, however it works particularly well on my gut too?
