Computer software to alter pitch?

Is there computer software to alter the pitch of some recorded music? I have a few songs that our little group plays, on the CDs the recordings are not in standard pitch for one reason or other. I can rip the music to whatever format is required if there is a way of adjusting the pitch of the song up or down. The way I work it is to keep one guitar available to tune to suit the pitch of the song. This works but if there is a handier way....

I installed Audacity and thanks to the help from here, I was able to adjust the pitch of 'Mississippi' by Pussycat from somewhere around but not Bb to Bb. Result. And I could save the doctored FLAC file so it works on my Sonos system. Now I can investigate the bass parts of that song...
